Warkworth Veterinary Services Ltd
We are a seven vet mixed practice, serving the greater Warkworth and Wellsford regions, from Puhoi in the south to Maungaturoto in the north and from east to west coast in between.
This allows us to prepare for your arrival and provide advice to help you manage the patient until it can be seen.
All small animal emergencies (cats, dogs, rabbits etc) need to be seen at the Warkworth Vet Hospital. We have a duty vet available after hours until 10 pm at night, please call 09 425 8244 for the duty vets contact details.

Our duty vet provides a 24 Hours service for veterinary emergencies to large animals (farm and lifestyle block). These will be seen at your premises, please consider any on-farm risks, lighting, water if needed etc to aid the vet on arrival.
Any sudden, unforeseen injury, illness or complication in an animal demanding immediate or early veterinary treatment to save life or to provide timely relief from unreasonable or unnecessary pain or distress.
Providing vet services after hours is very taxing on the staff involved, that same vet has to see inpatients (they could be yours) the next morning, and allowing them to get some rest is key to good decision making the next day.
The duty vet will triage calls based on urgency. If they are on a call or uncontactable (out of range) please leave a message for farm animals and they will return your call ASAP, or call ARC for small animal cases.
Providing skilled staff after hours is difficult and expensive. Current shortages in vets throughout NZ have only exasperated this problem.
